Genetic tests: what they consist of and types.

Genetic testing is an analysis of DNA from blood and other tissue
samples. They can be carried out at any person and time of your life.


Currently, a multitude of genetic tests are available, focused on different uses for the diagnosis or prediction of diseases.

  • Prenatal test: identify possible genetic conditions
    in the chromosomes of the fetus before birth and are also used to know
    the sex of the baby.
  • Testing in newborns: they are practiced in babies

    is an advantage for the child to detect them from the beginning.
  • Diagnostic test: when the patient presents symptoms of a disease, they study the alterations or mutations that may have occurred in their DNA.
  • Carrier test: it allows to identify people who are
    carriers of genetic diseases. In general, carriers do not know this
    information because they do not have symptoms, and although they do not
    have the condition itself, it can be transferred to their children.
